I haven't listed anything new in the shop for weeks because I have been busy working on what has become known in our household as "the Valedictory Wrap". My oldest son finishes Year 12 next week and one of the events is the valedictory dinner. I decided to make myself a wrap to wear over basic black. Sounds normal to me....but completely disturbing to a 17 year old boy. Why can't you wear a normal dress like other mothers?????
When I produced a black vintage slip I bought off etsy and started sewing on lace and sequins it was almost more than he could bear. You're not wearing that to valedictory are you? What could I say? but yes. This all comes from the boy who wore a white pinstripe suit and white shoes to his formal. Is he really qualified to pass judgement on my fashion choices?
These photos show the first stage of the wrap. Still more work to do.
Reminds me of me daughters when they were younger. They would say to me, "you're not going to wear THAT...blah, blah, blah", but only a few years later they ask if I still have whatever it was that made them cringe, so they can wear it. LOL! :D
